Make-Ahead Ham & Cheese Croissant Bake

Ingredients
5–6 large croissants (day-old works best), torn into chunks
200–250g cooked ham, chopped
1½ cups shredded cheese (Gruyère, Swiss, or cheddar)
6 large eggs
2 cups milk (or half-and-half for richer flavor)
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
½ teaspoon garlic powder
Salt & black pepper, to taste
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional)
👩‍🍳 Instructions
1. Assemble (Night Before)
Grease a baking dish (about 9×13 inch / 23×33 cm).
Layer croissant pieces evenly in the dish.
Sprinkle ham and cheese over the top.
2. Make the Custard
In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
Pour evenly over the croissants, pressing lightly so everything soaks up the mixture.
3. Chill
Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight (this is key for the best texture!).
🔥 Baking (Next Day)
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
Let the dish sit at room temp for about 15 minutes.
Bake uncovered for 35–45 minutes, until golden and set in the center.
🌿 Serve
Sprinkle with fresh parsley if you like.
Serve warm—pairs great with fruit or a simple salad.
💡 Tips & Variations
Swap ham for cooked bacon or sautéed mushrooms/spinach for a veggie version.
Add a pinch of paprika or nutmeg for extra depth.
Use buttery croissants—they make the texture extra soft inside and crispy on top.
